Underboard’s crazy collection of European and cult film DVDs and blu-rays continues to grow. One film which can definitely be described as crazy, at the very least, is Dellamorte Dellamore (AKA Cemetary Man), a 1993 Italian/French/German comedy-horror starring Rupert Everett. It has everything you could want from a film - zombies, boobs, guns, heads being run over, mayoral elections, and one very dubious medical procedure.
Rupert Everett plays a wonderfully dubbed (by himself) gravedigger and guardian of a cemetery where the dead just won’t stay dead. His job is to dispatch any flesh-eating zombies before they escape the cemetery. But his mission is rudely interrupted when he falls in love with an enigmatic widow who really loves ossuaries. Like, really, really, loves them.
So what do the critics say? The back of the box describes it as “intensely erotic” (a quote not attributed to anyone who would take credit for saying that about this film). Apparently, Director Martin Scorsese called Dellamorte Dellamore one of the best Italian films of the 1990s. And Underboard thinks it's pretty excellent too.
